Sonamarg is the “meadow of gold” and it keeps up to its name. The awe-inspiring beauty it possesses will charm you within minutes. There are a number of sightseeing places to visit in Sonamarg too. The majestic glacier, meadow, dense forests, and snow-capped mountains make for a perfect holiday. Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir is a must-visit place. Its lakes and gardens will leave you enchanted. Plus, you could also go on a shopping spree too, at the Srinagar market. A small tip – Srinagar is famous for its cashews and saffron.
Upon your arrival at Jammu airport or railway station, our executive will receive you with a warm welcome. You will then be travelling to Srinagar by road. Once you reach your hotel/houseboat at Srinagar, you can complete the check-in process, freshen up and then leave to explore the city. Today you will take a peaceful walk at Boulevard Road. The road is the most beautiful in Kashmir and it is surrounded by the majestic Zabarwan Mountain Ranges. They make of a wonderful backdrop. You can then take a relaxing 2-hour Shikara ride at Dal Lake before you head back to your hotel/houseboat. Reach your hotel/houseboat and enjoy a delicious dinner and get a goodnight’s sleep.
Begin your morning with a healthy breakfast and your hotel or houseboat. Once you are done, leave for your day tour at Sonamarg. As mentioned earlier, Sonamarg means “meadow of gold”. At this beautiful hill station, your first visit will be at the Thajiwas Glacier. The glacier is covered with snow and is the most scenic location of Kashmir. All you will see around you, at an altitude of 9,186 feet is snow. The next destination in your itinerary will be Vishansar Lake. A fun fact about this lake is that it freezes up completely during the winters and during the summer it has beautiful greenery around it. So much so that flocks of sheep come there for grazing. If you are an adventure junkie then you can also enjoy trekking at this lake. Your last stop for the day will be Baltal Valley. Like Thajiwas, Baltal Valley is known for its picturesque view. Many movies have been shot at this valley too. You could also enjoy some horse riding here. With this, you will end your day and return to your hotel or houseboat for dinner and an overnight stay in Srinagar.
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel or houseboat. Later, leave for your sightseeing tour of Srinagar. Your first stop will be at Shalimar Bagh. This is a Mughal garden, built-in 1619. It was built by emperor Jahangir for his wife Noor Jahan. The garden overlooks the twinkling waters of Dal Lake. Now, it is a public garden and is said to be the “crown of Srinagar”. The next destination for the day will be Chashme Shahi. This is also a very renowned garden built by the Mughals. Visit it for its terrace garden that consists of walkways, colourful plants and pools of water. You will also visit Hazratbal Shrine. It is considered to be the holiest Muslim shrine in Kashmir. The shrine houses a relic known as Moi-e-Muqqadas. It is believed to be the sacred hair of Prophet Muhammad’s beard. Post this tiring day, head back to your hotel or houseboat for dinner and a night stay.
Today you will be travelling to Gulmarg. So, make sure you have an early breakfast and are all packed to leave. Once you arrive in Gulmarg, complete the check-in process and then you can begin with your sightseeing tour. Your first activity for the day will be a Gondola ride. This ride is famous not just in India, but over the world. This is because it is the second-longest and second-highest cable car ride in the world. The ride will take you from Gulmarg Resort to Kongdoori Station. The ride offers a majestic view of the Himalayan Mountain Ranges so make sure you keep your camera ready. Next up, is skiing. Yes, skiing through the snowy fields of Gulmarg, wow. The terrain of Gulmarg is ideal for both amateur and professional skiers. And hence this activity is very famous amongst tourists and locals. Post this tiring day, you will be escorted back to your hotel for a delicious dinner meal and some night rest.
On Day 5 you will leave for Pahalgam. So, keep your luggage ready and have an early morning breakfast to leave for your road trip. Upon your arrival in Pahalgam, complete your check-in process at the hotel and leave for your sightseeing tour. Your first destination in Pahalgam will be Betaab Valley. This valley is famous as a shooting location for many Bollywood movies. You can enjoy horse riding and trekking in this valley too. The next sightseeing tour for the day will be Aru Valley. This valley is the base camp for the Kolhoi Glacier trekking route. It is situated beside the Aru river and hence it feels very peaceful and scenic. Also, activities like horse riding, hiking and trekking can be done at this spot. Return to your hotel after this tiring day for a goodnight’s sleep and delicious dinner.
After a healthy breakfast at your hotel, you can begin sightseeing in Pahalgam. The first destination for the day will be Baisaran, a beautiful destination. It houses tranquil meadows, pristine lakes and picturesque mountains. Also, there are fun activities there, such as rides, pony rides, zorbing etc. Your next stop will be at Lidder River. This river is 73-kilometre long and is a glacial river. The river flows through Pahalgam. It is a quaint picnic spot for families. You can also experience adventure sports like white water rafting, angling, horse riding, and fishing here. The last destination for the day is Mamleshwara Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is made out of stone and the temple complex comprises a shrine, made out of gold. You can then head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Today you will be taking a road trip to Jammu. So, leave as soon as you are done with breakfast. Once you arrive at your hotel in Jammu, freshen up and then you can begin the sightseeing tour. You will start by visiting Raghunath Temple. There are seven shrines in this temple complex. Visit this place and seek the blessings of the many deities at the temple. The next sightseeing location is the Mubarak Mandi Palace. It most enchanting feature is its architecture. The blend of Rajasthani, Mughal and European touches will charm you. This will bring your day to an end; you will then return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8 marks the end of your wonderful Kashmir holiday. So, be all packed and have an early breakfast. Our representative will escort you to the Jammu railway station or airport for your journey back home.
